Renewal Information for Residents of Other States and Metro Scholarship Guidelines Renewal Information

Award Period and Application of Funds: Your scholarship award is for the academic year. This means that your disbursement of money will occur in increments of 50% for the fall semester, and 50% for the spring semester. Scholarships may not be used during summer. All awards are for a maximum of four semesters for an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree or Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree and eight semesters for a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree or WVU's Regents Bachelor of Arts (R.B.A.) degree. In most instances the scholarship is not restricted to payment of tuition and fees, but may be used to cover other educational expenses such as room & board, books & supplies, etc. In addition to the GPA and hours earned requirements for renewal listed below, students must also maintain full time enrollment each semester (12 hours or more).

Scholarship Renewal: If your award is for more than one academic year, you will automatically have your scholarship renewed if you have met the academic standards, as outlined in your award letter. All scholars are required to maintain specific cumulative grade-point averages and to complete a minimum number of credits per year.

The renewal criteria for all PSC non-resident scholarships are presented below. Please note that students entering PSC prior to the fall 2019 semester may have different renewal requirements. That information is contained in the original scholarship award letter you received. Please contact the Office of Enrollment Services if you are not aware of that criteria.

Academic Progress:
Academic standards exist for each level of scholarship awards and are measured at the end of the second summer session of each academic year. Students are notified in writing at the end of the spring semester if appropriate progress has not been attained, and summer school may be used in attempt to make up deficiencies. Students failing to meet renewal requirements by the end of the summer school session will not have their scholarship renewed. Students whose first enrollment is the spring semester or have deferred their scholarship for one or more semesters may be on a different review cycle where academic progress is measured after the fall semester.
