International Student Scholarships

At WVU Potomac State College, we want the best students – so we look at more than tests and GPAs. We value your hard work and determination too. We have expanded our scholarship tiers to offer even more students the opportunity to earn a WVU degree.

International students are considered for non-resident student scholarships. No separate application is necessary for our scholarships. To be considered for WVU scholarships, students must be admitted by January 2 for spring 2025 and by August 1 for fall 2025. Students who meet the admission deadline will be considered for scholarships (or increases to scholarships, if applicable) based on submission of new high school transcripts or ACT/SAT scores if the information is updated on their WVU student record by the deadline date.

First-time Freshmen admitted students will need to request a GPA update before the deadline date if their GPA has increased and they are requesting a reevaluation for merit.

And don’t forget to file the FAFSA form for the 2025-2026 academic cycle. You may qualify for additional need-based aid and institutional awards.

If you change campuses to WVU Morgantown or WVU Beckley when you leave Potomac State, your scholarship will go with you as long as you’ve met renewal criteria.

Potomac State College scholarships for international students are fully integrated with the scholarship program at West Virginia University. If a student decides to change campuses from Potomac State to WVU and meets the academic standards for these scholarships, the student will be eligible to continue to receive these scholarships at WVU at the current WVU value. Students in PSC four-year programs are eligible for the scholarships for up to four years.

  • Value of scholarship at WVU will be determined by current value of scholarship at WVU if a student changes campuses.
  • PSC uses “Super Scores” for scholarship awarding, so students should submit all scores from each section of the ACT or SAT if the test(s) is taken more than once. The “Super Score” will be calculated using the highest component/sub-score from all test information available to PSC.
  • The old version of the SAT totals are based on the Critical Reading score plus Math score. The new version of the SAT totals are based on the Evidence-based Reading and Writing Score plus Math score.
  • If a student is eligible for more than one scholarship from Potomac State College, the student will be awarded the scholarship with the highest dollar value. To retain scholarships for subsequent years, all scholars are required to maintain specific cumulative grade-point averages and to complete a minimum number of credits per year.
  • If you receive a full sponsorship from a government or corporation, the scholarship will not disburse to you. Instead, we will bill your sponsor a discounted tuition amount. Students receiving reduced rates through established international articulation agreements are not eligible for scholarship consideration.
