Who We Are

Keyser, WV, is a small town tucked in the Potomac Highlands. We're known as the "Friendliest City in the U.S.A." - and we live up to it. Just a few hours' drive from Washington, D.C., Baltimore, MD, and Pittsburgh, PA.

Your Home Away From Home

A true college experience is more than just going to class. Life happens everywhere -- both in the classroom and outside of it. So get ready to make memories.

Get Out There

Go hiking, fishing, camping, skiing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, join/lead a club or play for one of our winning athletic teams. In our smaller setting, you have the opportunity to play a big part on campus.

Find New BFFs.

Network with other students, faculty and professional staff. Join the International Club, PSC Serves/Rotaract, Black Student Alliance, Catamount Gamers or any of the 18 student organizations that connect us across campus.

You're Part of the WVU Family

Potomac State College students can score discounted tickets to WVU Morgantown events, access 2.4 million books, 500,000 eBooks and dozens of databases through the WVU Libraries, use the WVU System's email and student information system and study abroad through WVU System programs.

"My best piece of advice is actually to schedule time to study for each course. Then schedule some fun stuff, too." - Laura Tappe, Early Start program at WVU Potomac State College; BA West Virginia University: DDS WVU School of Dentistry

Eat Well.

The Rapids, Potomac State College's favorite eatery, offers students a la carte dining options with food packaged to-go as well as extended hours for late-night munching.

At Potomac State College in Keyser we are known for our small class sizes, student-centered focus and  caring and approachable professors – all at a cost that ranks among the lowest in the country for a four-year institution.

For more than 1,100 students from 22 states and 5 international countries, we are a home away from home. In addition to our online programs, we offer over 50+ two-year programs that can easily be transferred and completed at WVU Morgantown or WVU Beckley – and 8 four-year bachelor degree programs.

Professional and peer tutors in the Academic Success Center can help with specific assignments or work with you to improve your study skills.

Our residence halls are air conditioned and equipped with high-speed internet, lounges and laundry facilities. Or, you can commute to the Keyser campus or choose to take on-line courses.

Many students play on one of our 9 competitive athletic teams, join or lead clubs, study abroad, play an intramural sport – or simply cheer on the Catamounts.  And, of course, being tucked away in the Potomac Highlands allows you to camp, kayak, raft, fish, ski – and just enjoy the beauty of the region.

Simply put, WVU Potomac State College offers the best of both worlds: A big-time university, delivered in a small-college setting.
