Options to Improve Your Math Placement before the Fall Semester Begins

1.  Use ALEKS on your own to complete 8 hours of instruction, then retake the placement test by contacting Jennifer Jones at jrjones@mail.wvu.edu or 304-788-7144. You will receive an email through your MIX account from the ALEKS system with information on how to access the instruction. You will use your WVU Portal username and password to access ALEKS, so be sure you have that information.

2.  Math 122, 124, 126 and 128 are offered online during the summer. Completion of these courses will allow you to take Math 155 in the fall. (This option requires you to place into Math 126 without the coreq.)

The ALEKS math placement test is used to place into most of the math courses shown below. You have four attempts once you have registered. You are required to complete 8 hours of instruction through ALEKS before you can take your second attempt, and 16 hours is required between your second and third attempt. Below is the progression through PSC math courses to help you see which courses you may need to complete the math requirement for your major.
